Shops at Dakota Crossing is a 430,000 square foot retail center, bringing a destination shopping venue to Northeast, DC, drawing crowds from the entire District of Columbia, surrounding neighborhoods, as well as surrounding Maryland and Virginia suburbs. The project is anchored by several strong, national retailers including Costco (154,000sf) and Lowe’s (130,000sf). In addition to the large anchors, approximately 50,000 square feet of retail space will be occupied by small shops, a bank, and several restaurants and food service providers.
Costco, and the first Phase of the development, opened in late 2012. The Lowe’s Home and Garden Center opened in late 2015. Phase III has just broken ground and will deliver by 4Q 2016. New tenants include PetSmart, Marshall's and DICK'S Sporting Goods.
The center has been designed with several neighborhood friendly design features, including a central, walk-able “Main Street” of small shops and restaurants, pedestrian-friendly linkages to the surrounding residential developments, and several public plazas and open spaces with outdoor seating.
