Sam Fox to bring healthy, fast-casual, and popular Italian restaurants to thriving 2nd Street District

AUSTIN, TEXAS – Fox Restaurant Concepts announced today that they are opening a new location of Flower Child and North Italia in the 2nd Street District in late winter 2017. North Italia, which features Italian dishes handmade from scratch daily, and Flower Child, a healthy, happy, fast-casual restaurant, will both be located on the ground floor of 500 West 2nd Street, the second phase of the Thomas C. Greenwater Treatment Plant redevelopment in downtown Austin.

As a local favorite for over ten years, Fox Restaurant Concepts is excited to bring a second location of North Italia to the downtown area. The chefs at North start from scratch to create handmade pizza and pasta using only the best ingredients to craft inspired dishes from the garden, farm, and sea. North defines the standards for handcrafted Italian. The menu offers a great selection of antipasti (daily soup, charcuterie, bruschetta), salads full of seasonal ingredients, and a main entrée menu driven by both traditional Italian cuisine and lighter fresh fish dishes. North is a great neighborhood spot for family and friends to meet and share a handcrafted experience. From the food to the service, every detail at North matters.

Following the success of Flower Child’s first location in Austin, which opened this past fall at Domain NORTHSIDE, Fox Restaurant Concepts wants to bring the happy, healthy concept to Austinites that live, work, and play downtown. With a variety of organic, gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan chef-driven items available for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch, the menu is thoughtfully designed to support a healthy and balanced life. The space is reminiscent of a modern bohemian abode that’s fully equipped with a dedicated yoga mat “parking” area, seasonal iced tea and lemonade station, Kombucha, local beer and organic wine on tap, and a buzzy open kitchen exuding energy through the space where guests can watch as chefs swiftly prepare orders to-go or for the table.

North Italia and Flower Child mark the second location of each restaurant in the Austin area, and join the existing locations of Austin-favorites True Food Kitchen and Culinary Dropout. Sam Fox is a James Beard-nominated restaurateur in the Outstanding Restaurateur of the Year category and has been recognized as one of the 50 most powerful people in food service by Nation’s Restaurant News.

Flower Child and North Italia will both be located at 500 West 2nd Street, a 500,511 SF Class “AA” mixed-use development led by Trammell Crow Company and Principal Real Estate Investors.
