Trammell Crow Company (TCC) is pleased to announce that Christina Lee and Yewande Fapohunda are named Co-Chairs of the firm’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Steering Committee (DEI.SC). Christina and Yewande will serve an 18-month term and will be responsible for the overall direction of the DEI.SC and its subcommittees. TCC Chief Operating Officer Adam Weers will serve as executive sponsor for the DEI.SC.

TCC formally established a DEI Initiative in 2011. Collaborating with TCC Leadership, stakeholders throughout the firm, and external partners, the DEI.SC has implemented numerous strategies and programs since its establishment. These important efforts are led by the DEI.SC, which is tasked with driving and advancing TCC’s efforts to create a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment within the company, the communities where TCC operates, and the real estate industry broadly.

DEI.SC’s recent initiatives, which reflect thoughtful collaboration with a broad base of TCC employees and strategically aligned partners, include:

  • TCC established a two-year partnership with the Toigo Foundation to reinforce Toigo’s long-standing work to increase the pipeline of diverse talent entering the investing and commercial real estate industries. TCC’s financial commitment supports Toigo’s operations and establishes the TCC Scholars Program, which provides funded summer internships in TCC Offices all over the United States.
  • TCC established a partnership between the TCC Professional Women’s Network and the Forté Foundation to amplify Forte’s mission to launch women into significant careers through access to business education, professional development, and a community of successful women. TCC sponsored Forté’s MBA Women’s Conference and will continue to partner with the organization to sponsor various events on behalf of the organization.
  • TCC launched The Impact Project, a company-wide program that increases and targets the positive impacts TCC’s people and projects make on diverse communities in their local markets. Every U.S. office has established an annual goal for financial and in-kind contributions, which may include commitments to education, workforce development, public art, charitable donations, or other similar efforts.

“We’re eager to lead this next era of DEI.SC, where we aim to foster fundamental alignment between our committee’s objectives and TCC’s mission to create the buildings of tomorrow so that our clients, partners, and communities thrive today,” said Fapohunda. “To that end, our goal for this committee is to uncover and reinforce the talents of the diverse stakeholders we work with within our institution, our industry, and the communities in which we build.”

Lee continued, “Diversity in thought and perspective is critical for the long-term success and evolution of our firm. We aim not only to attract and retain the best talent from a broad pool, but to invest in the pipeline of young students who will change the future of our industry.”

Fapohunda and Lee noted that through DEI.SC’s collaboration, they will inform and support TCC’s efforts to recruit and retain the best team members and enhance their engagement and contributions to culture and core business through improvements in mentorship, cross pollination, and information sharing across US and International regions and asset classes.
