Five-Story Building Will Include 130 Residential Units and an Upscale Grocer on Ground Floor

High Street Residential (HSR), the residential subsidiary of Trammell Crow Company, has commenced construction on a mixed-use development in the Lake Nokomis neighborhood of Minneapolis, MN. The project will include 130 residential apartments and 24,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space, which will be occupied by the upscale supermarket Lunds & Byerlys. The property is located at 4720 Longfellow Avenue S. and construction is slated for completion in the spring of 2021. This marks HSR’s seventh residential project in the Twin Cities since 2012.

The Lake Nokomis development will offer a mix of studio, alcove, one- and two-bedroom apartments. Residents will have access to a robust amenity collection, including a hotel-like lobby, climate-controlled parking, bike storage, a package room, a work-from-home business center and conference room, a coffee station, a pet spa, a fitness center, and a clubroom overlooking the outdoor amenity deck, which features fire pits, grill stations and a pool. There is also a fifth-floor sky lounge, complete with an outdoor terrace.

“When we started evaluating opportunities in the Nokomis area, we found that there was a large void in the market for a luxury mixed-use housing development. We have thoughtfully designed the building to bring a unique housing option to the neighborhood,” said Mary Lucas, a senior associate in HSR’s Midwest Business Unit. “We are excited to partner with Lunds & Byerlys on this project. This location will be a great amenity to our residents and to the surrounding neighborhood.”

“We’re thrilled to soon have the opportunity to serve this community with a full-service grocery store filled with extraordinary food, exceptional service and passionate expertise,” said Tres Lund, president and CEO of Lunds & Byerlys. “We will also feature an impressive selection of prepared foods to provide seemingly endless options for fresh and convenient meals.”

The Nokomis neighborhood is best known for its abundance of recreational activities, including The Hiawatha Golf Club and Lake Nokomis Park, the latter of which is located within walking distance of the Lake Nokomis apartments. The property is walkable to several eateries and coffee shops and is a 15-minute drive to downtown Minneapolis and within a 10-minute drive of Minneapolis – St Paul International Airport and the Mall of America. The project’s architect is ESG Architects and the general contractor is Stevens Construction Corp.
