Pro-Bono Project Provides Additional Space to an Over-Crowded YMCA Pre-School

DALLAS, TX – Trammell Crow Company (TCC), Alliance Architects and Fast-Track Construction, on behalf of In The City For Good, a charitable organization that leverages talents from other organizations to develop food pantries and early childhood education programs within the inner City, announces the completion of a newly renovated facility to be used for a portion of Park South’s YMCA’s currently overcrowded pre-school classrooms.

TCC, who served as the developer, along with Alliance Architects, the project architect and the general contractor, Fast-Track Construction, each offered their commercial real estate development expertise to convert an abandoned 2,000-square-foot laundromat into a pre-school building and increased the capacity from serving 100 to 145 children.

“Early childhood education is essential to ensure children in under resourced areas of the city are able to start school with reading and math comprehension skills at the proper grade level, giving them a solid start for a successful academic career,” said Rodrigua Ross, Executive Director of the Park South YMCA. “The Park South YMCA pre-school building has resulted in a beautifully renovated facility with three fully equipped classrooms and office space which is owned and operated by the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas.”

The 1-story building, located at 3901 Latimer, features three classrooms. The development team designed built-in shelves for storage, added high-windows to allow for natural light and painted all the rooms in bright colors to aid in learning.

“We are thrilled to have partnered with Trammell Crow Company, Fast Track Construction, and Alliance Architects who are to be commended for the work they are doing in this community," said Terry Kittleson, President of In The City For Good. “This facility has evolved from a formerly blighted building into a productive space that the neighborhood can be proud of.”
