The 52,000-Square-Foot Building is the Gateway Entrance for the New Martin Luther King Jr. Medical Campus in Willowbrook, CA
The SoCal – Los Angeles office of Trammell Crow Company (TCC) announces the completion of a new 52,000-square-foot medical office building, which will be known as the MLK Community Health Building, in Willowbrook, CA. The project was developed in a public/private partnership (P3) with the occupier, the Martin Luther King Community Hospital, and the Los Angeles County Development Authority. Trammell Crow Company was selected as the developer after winning RFP process from the County of Los Angeles in 2016. The hospital will begin receiving patients at the new facility in March 2020.
The two-story, state-of-the-art healthcare facility, located at 12021 South Wilmington Avenue, is the first standalone medical office building developed as part of the $1+ billion medical campus transformation centered around the MLK Community Hospital. The new facility will provide primary care for the local community, as well as valuable services to treat chronic conditions. Outpatient services will include dialysis, wound care and imaging. There will also be an ambulatory surgery center, a retail pharmacy, and a space for MLK Community Group provider care services.
“We are thrilled to be a part of this project that is bringing much needed medical space to the community of Willowbrook,” said Nancy Moses, a Senior Vice President with Trammell Crow Company. “The 1.35 million residents served by the hospital will now have access to more healthcare providers in a modern and transformative building that is a complement to the state-of-the-art MLK Medical Campus.”
Willowbrook is an unincorporated community in Los Angeles County that is in the midst of an urban transformation, spurred by Los Angeles County’s investment in the medical campus and nearly $400M in projects in the adjacent neighborhood.
“This property is strategically located at the corner of Wilmington and 120th Street, allowing the building to serve as the gateway entrance of the new Martin Luther King, Jr. Medical Campus,” said Gabe Hungerford, Vice President with Trammell Crow Company. “After re-launching in a new state-of-the-art facility in 2015, the hospital is one of the most modern in Southern California, with access to high-quality doctors and staff. The new MLK Community Health Building mirrors the quality of the hospital as an on-campus expansion for outpatient services and provider care.”
The MLK Community Health Building was designed by HKS architects. The project’s general contractor is ConAm Building Co.
