The Atlanta office of Trammell Crow Company (TCC) announced the completion of the Atlanta Community Food Bank’s new corporate headquarters and distribution facility. Located at 3400 North Desert Drive in East Point, GA, the new headquarters sits on 65 acres of land and is comprised of 341,041 square feet. The Food Bank will begin operations at the property in March 2020.

The new headquarters includes 84,953 square feet of corporate office space, 69,931 square feet of cold storage, and 186,157 square feet of warehouse space. Key energy-saving features of the building include high-efficiency LED lighting, low space temperature heating set-point for warehouse areas and windows with low-energy tinted glazing.

“We are thrilled to have acted as the development manager for the new Atlanta Community Food Bank headquarters. The impressive work they do is incredibly important to our local community,” said Chris Eagen, Vice President of TCC Atlanta. “The scale of this project was substantial, as it needed to meet the demands of the Food Bank’s operations, which serves and stores a massive amount of food on a daily basis.”

Atlanta Community Food Bank distributed 71.7 million pounds of food and grocery products in fiscal year 2018-2019, and 22% of those food and grocery items distributed in fiscal year 2018-2019 included fresh produce. The Food Bank currently works with over 700 partner agencies that directly distribute food to 29 counties within metro Atlanta and North Georgia.

"We are grateful to have worked with the esteemed Trammell Crow Company. They have made our ideas and visions come to life seamlessly," said Kyle Waide, President and CEO of the Atlanta Community Food Bank. "Our new building will enable the Food Bank to fully harness our most abundant asset — food. We are motivated by the knowledge that relieving hunger has the power to change the trajectory of a person's life, and our enhanced and expanded facility will allow us to better serve our growing network of more than 700 partner agencies."

3400 North Desert Drive was designed by Randall-Paulson Architects; the general contractor for the project was Catamount Constructors.

Chris Eckles of CBRE represented Atlanta Community Food Bank throughout the strategic evaluation, planning and execution of their expansion project, ultimately aiding the nonprofit group on the site selection and build to suit process of the new headquarter facility along with the marketing and disposition of their two current buildings.
