Overview

TCC was the development manager of the Atlanta Community Food Bank’s new corporate headquarters and main food distribution center. The 341,041-square-foot build-to-suit facility includes 84,953 square feet of corporate office space on two floors, 69,931 square feet of freezer/cooler space, and 186,157 square feet of dry warehouse space. The office area features a decorative brick façade, two-story lobby, learning kitchen and large volunteer meeting rooms. The 32-foot clear height warehouse includes areas for packing, salvage, agency pickup, grocery and controlled rooms for food processing. The 64-acre site incorporates 500 auto parking stalls for employees and volunteers, a truck court and loading dock and agency pickup/loading area.

The Atlanta Community Food Bank works with over 700 partner agencies that directly distribute food to 29 counties within metro Atlanta and North Georgia. In a typical year, over 30,000 volunteers serve over 110,000 hours in support of the Food Bank’s mission. The Food Bank distributed 78+ million pounds of food and grocery products in fiscal year 2019-20 and their new facility has allowed them to meet the increased demand. Due to the covid-19 pandemic, the Food Bank has seen a 300% increase in inquiries from people seeking food assistance and is distributing between 30% & 40% more food each week than they were pre-pandemic.
